Happy New Year And New Decade

Like many people January is the time when we reflect back on our past year and look at what we have, and haven’t, achieved against the goals we set ourselves and also what we could be doing better.

At the University of Oxford shop we are no different and as we look back the biggest change we have noticed is a greater awareness in our customers and ourselves about the impact we have on our environment.

It is with this in mind that we look forward to the year ahead and indeed the new decade with real purpose. We know that retail can have a disproportionately negative effect on our environment but we believe it doesn’t have to be this way.

You may have already noticed that some of your packages come in unusual and unexpected boxes, (this is because we already recycle as much packaging as we can). We are also the only retailer to sell recycled sub-fuscs, each one contains 18 plastic bottles.

However, the work doesn’t stop there and this year we will be increasing our work with suppliers to cut down on unnecessary plastics and packaging and be investing in eco-friendly alternatives when we send your order out.

We are going to make many more changes in 2020 to help reduce our carbon footprint and tread lighter on the world. We hope you join us our journey!
