The Centenary Carnation was designed by the Graduate Admissions office to visually represent the University’s DPhil students.
Oxford students wear carnations for their examinations, often given to them as a token of encouragement by friends and supporters.
This design extends the tradition to our research students, using the colours of the distinctive DPhil graduation down: scarlet with bright blue facings.
