Hidden Oxford

Christ Church Meadow | Corpus Christi College | Merton College | Oxford | Photography | Sunshine | 1 Comments
Most of my time in Oxford seems to be spent in the ‘commercial’ city centre where all the well-known high street chains and hustle and bustle can be found, but the great thing about Oxford is you are only ever a couple of minutes’ walk away from something much calmer and altogether more relaxing. Today the sun was shining on the dreaming spires so I took the camera for a walk to get some pictures of the stonework glowing in the sunshine. Broad Street and Radcliffe Square were busy with the students now back for the new term, but after taking a turn off the high street down Magpie Lane, the sound of the buses was soon behind me as I made my way between the Colleges of Merton and Corpus Christi to the edge of Christ Church Meadow. The change in atmosphere is to something more akin to strolling around the park of a stately home; beautiful scenery and seemingly a million miles away from a busy city centre.

My favorite Oxford walk -

My favorite Oxford walk - lovely photo! The contrasts between chaotic bustle and sublime timelessness are what fascinates me about Oxford. In many places, a few steps can carry you to the other world.
