Merton College
Merton College is one of the oldest colleges at the University of Oxford. While records are inconclusive about whether it is older than Balliol or University College, Merton College dates back to 1264.
Merton College's stately grounds and rich heritage are reflective of its historical significance. Merton was the first college to be granted governance statutes, and was the only college to side with the Parliamentarians during the English Civil War. Nowadays, Merton College excels as the most academically successful college in Oxford.
