Mansfield College
Mansfield College is set close to the River Cherwell, and is one of the University of Oxford's smaller colleges. Its origins lie in Birmingham in 1838, when Nonconformists established Spring Hill College. In 1871, Prime Minister and Christ Church alumnus William Gladstone recommended the establishment of a Nonconformist college at the University of Oxford.
Following the move to Oxford in 1886, Mansfield College retained its progressive, liberal values, and remains one of the University of Oxford's most forward-thinking and close-knit colleges.
