Going Dodo for Alice's DayPosted on June 27, 2011 by hannah.aspey
To celebrate the 2011 Alice’s Day, which takes place on Saturday 9th July, we've created a quiz all about the Oxford Dodo, which inspired the Dodo character in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll.
As the University’s official shop, we’ve always stocked Dodo products because there’s such a strong link via Lewis Carroll and the University’s Museum of Natural History. The 10 question quiz is free to enter and can be picked up on the day, at the University of Oxford Shop on the High Street. Answers to most of the questions can be found in the Oxford University Museum of Natural History on Parks Road, however, other University venues participating in Alice’s Day may also be able to provide answers too, such as the Ashmolean Museum, Botanic Gardens, Bodleian Library and the Museum of the History of Science. Clues to the tenth and final question can be found in the University Shop. So have a go! Completed quiz sheets must be handed into the shop for entry into a prize draw, the winner of which will receive a bundle of Dodo themed items worth over £30. For younger children, a Dodo colouring sheet will also be available for creative scribbling.
